Where AI helps
AI is good at first drafts: grant sections, donor emails, board summaries and plans. Grounded in an organization’s own records, it saves hours and keeps the organization’s voice.
Where people still matter
Decisions, relationships and judgment stay human. Every AI output should be reviewed by the person who owns the work.
The policy gap
Sector data (TechSoup / Tapp Network, 2025) shows 76% of nonprofits have no AI policy, and smaller organizations adopt AI at about half the rate of larger ones. A one-page AI policy and a prompt library close most of that gap.
